FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • A lot of the time when labor starts and begins to progress, partners will freeze up and they don’t know how they can best comfort and support you. This is very normal! It’s hard seeing someone you love in pain, especially when you feel like there isn’t a lot you can do about it and you are in uncharted territory with a lot going on. And that is where I come in. As your doula I will help your partner navigate the best ways to support you. I have a unique skill set specifically for birth. And your partner has a deep love for you. They have a special and intimate knowledge of you, and I have the tools, techniques, and knowledge of childbirth. Together we are the perfect support team!

  • My support includes advocacy, physical pain and pressure relief through massage, counter pressure, breathing techniques, position changes, acupressure and rebozo maneuvers. And emotional support for you and your partner to rely and lean on.

  • I’ve had clients contact me right after they have gotten a positive pregnancy test, all the way up to a week before their due date! The advantage to hiring me earlier on is that we have more time to get to know one another. Throughout your pregnancy you can take advantage of my expertise and knowledge with any questions and concerns you will have during your pregnancy.

  • A big part of my job is to make absolute certain that my clients are informed and have the resources needed to educate themselves. Whether that is about a procedure your provider may want to perform, or making sure you know all of your options. I ensure that they have your informed consent, and that you fully understand what it may entail and feel comfortable with your choices.

  • I attend births wherever my clients want to give birth! This includes birthing centers, hospitals, home, and even outdoors. As long as there is a medical attendant present.

  • I have an immense interest in all things Birth. Pregnancy, labor, hormones, all the emotions, and everything with it. The whole process and how it works so I definitely knew I wanted to do something with that. In college I studied psychology here on O`ahu. I learned how the brain works with the body, coping with pain and how different situations, surroundings, and mindsets can affect your whole outlook on a situation. I then went and trained to become a doula. Getting my certification and experiencing all sorts and amazing things. Birth work, being there for mothers, birthing people is my passion. I love it! Being able to be in a birthing space, and work with amazing people, is a great honor.

  • There are many ways to get together the funds for a doula:

    - Asking for donations to a doula fund instead of presents at your baby shower

    - Another option is to consider what you could barter to take down part of the fee. I have bartered for all sorts of goods and services and consider all offers.

These are all options that will help you get the funds together.

*In special situations such as single parents, teen birthing people, or low income households: please contact me and we will discuss options further.

  • From here, we will set up a prenatal visit for us to go over more questions and concerns and to get to know each other better. We will discuss my role, how you can prepare and also develop your birth plan so you are comfortable and confident when your special day comes!
